Global Activities

Catholic Relief Services

The Center for Mission also serves as the Archdiocesan contact for Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the international relief and development arm of the Catholic Church in the United States. Established in 1943 to help refugees fleeing the devastation of World War II, CRS has expanded to serving in over 100 countries providing relief during times of catastrophe and ongoing development toward building self-sustaining and peaceful communities.

CRS is rooted in the Catholic Social principle of global solidarity and strives to bridge US Catholics to reach beyond their own national borders and to engage the global concerns of our time through actions of compassion and justice.

  Missionary Cooperation Plan

The Missionary Cooperation Plan (MCP) was conceived in the 1930's in the United States as an organized way to help mission-sending societies solicit funds for their mission efforts and to give them the opportunity to appeal for vocations to their religious communities. The MCP offers the opportunity for mission organizations to apply for mission appeals in the archdiocese. The Center for Mission director receives these applications, chooses the participants, assigns three or four parishes, collects and disperses the funds received.
