World Mission Sunday

October 23, 2011

On October 23, 2011, we join Catholics around the world to "celebrate the hope that saves." Through prayer, participation in the Eucharist and by giving generously we support the life-giving presence of the Church among the suffering and the poor in more than 1,150 mission dioceses around the world, through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

Although most collections take place in parishes on this weekend, we are offering online contributing to those who desire it. All contributions will be forwarded to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith to support and strengthen our brothers and sisters in these young mission churches.

Examples of how your contributions help:

$15 will support a young seminarian for a week in an African seminary like St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Nairobi, Kenya.

$20 will help to purchase a desk and books for a student in catechetical class in the mountainous region of northern Vietnam.

$30 will cover the cost of transporting sick children from the jungles of Peru to a hospital in the country's capital.

$75 will support the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi care for disabled children in a mission hospital in Zambia.

$125 will help provide food, shelter, clothing, medical care and an education for one of many young girls. most rescued from human trafficking, in the care of the Good Shepherd Sisters in Thailand

Please help as you are able, any contribution is most appreciated.
